A Course In Miracles
In A Nutshell (Part 2)

This is the second part of this article about the teachings of A Course in Miracles, and here is the first part of this article in case you missed it.

A Miracle Takes Place...

At every moment we are facing opportunities to remove more and more blockages to the awareness of Love’s presence within ourselves and everywhere around.

Forgiveness is the means by which we will remember the truth.

Every shift in perception from fear to Love is a miracle; it is a triumph from what is real over what is not.

"Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God." (Introduction)

My Own Experience

The study of "The Course" has been an incredible experience for me. The teachings go beyond the words themselves and at moments they simply become light, a tender hand of comfort in challenging moments.

At the beginning, I was very reluctant to embrace this teaching for its loaded Christian terminology. But I learned that words are simply words, “…for you go from here to where words fail entirely, into a silence where the language is unspoken and yet surely understood.” (Lesson 129)

Now, this is not an easy spirituality. It involves giving, forgiving, loving unconditionally…

BUT, when we truly open ourselves for love to step in, a miracle takes place and any action derived from Love extends only Love by nature…

How It Came About

There is no author or name listed for A Course In Miracles. However, in the preface of the book, it is explained that the course was "scribed" by Dr. Helen Schucman through a process based on the dictation of an inner Voice, which she identified as Jesus. Jesus was "a symbol of God's love and not the historical Jesus of Nazareth".

Helen was assisted by Dr. William Thetford, they both were tenured Professors of Medical Psychology at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

A Course in Miracles was first published in 1975 by the Foundation for Inner Peace, a not for profit organization. The course is composed of a text, a workbook (with 365 lessons) and a manual for teachers.

There are different ACIM study groups that meet usually once a week to study the course. I am sure you can find one in your area.

What People are Saying...

"All I can say is THANKYOU! so much for making this site! I was put on anti-depressants when I was 13 (now 20) after a childhood of severe abuse in every imaginable way. Just a few weeks ago I've come off my medications for good and am never going back. I came across this site today, it has helped so much already!
